From Fire to Inspire - Programs for Educators & Schools

Workshops for Educators

What?

Picture

How?

From Fire to Inspire is a two-part experience.
  1. As learners, we experience an application of mind/brain learning teaching practices by participating in learning activities that pair brain-oxygenating/integrating movement with Neuro-Nuggets (what neuroscientists know about how the brain learns). Through mini-lessons, we build the From Fire to Inspire Framework while connecting to the science of neuroplasticity and our power in the learning process.
  2. With teaching and the science of memory and brain states as the focus, we revisit the learning in Part 1 and expand on Neuro-Nuggets with Brain-Bits (mind/brain/body teaching and learning principles). Our goal in Part 2 is to use the From Fire to Inspire Framework to explore practical, time-efficient mind/brain/body smart classroom practices.

I have developed a workshop plan that requires an investment of time (not money) by the host teacher and school. Contact me to learn more about these creative partnerships.

From Fire to Inspire is a framework of images, sounds, colors, and verse aimed at achieving goals.
  1. Connect learners to an understanding of neuroplasticity and an individual's power in the learning process.
  2. Connect educators to time-efficient creative ways to apply the science of learning to classroom practices.

Who?

This experience is designed for all educators, regardless of discipline, interested in exploring creative mind/brain/body smart strategies and practices.

Why?

1. Understanding neuroplasticity (power to wire and rewire the brain) leads to increased
  • Self-awareness
  • Motivation
  • Self-Direction
  • Healthy Reflection Practices
2. When the science of learning becomes a primary consideration as we plan, teach, and interact, we increase the likelihood that what we teach is also learned.

What teachers are saying!
"AMAZING loved it! Love anything that gets my kids MOVING with a PURPOSE."
"A lot of info and great practical ideas for the classroom in a short time. I would love to go to more workshops with her!"
The presenter was fantastic!
"Bring her in for an elementary workshop. Great connection between movement and learning."
"I am going try to use more movement in the classroom as a learning tool."
~ Comments from Workshop Participants

School Programs

School programs for children (or students and teachers) include guest teaching and/or residencies in which we use circus arts learning to build the From Fire to Inspire Framework with the goal of helping kids learn how the brain learns and realize their power in the process.
Learners connect to:
  • A basic understanding of neuroplasticity and their power in the process
  • An understanding of habit building and an embedded practice of goal-setting, focus, optimism, self-regulation, grit, and resilience
  • A healthy reflection practice based on an understanding of how the brain and body learn
  • Physical activity that oxygenates, integrates and energizes the brain and body for improved learning
  • Each other
What kids are saying!
"Hey Mrs. Giles-Brown! I think I'm getting one of those!"
Quote from a former student (1st grade) as she pointed to the picture of a neural network with a very excited look on her face!
